A running theme

Today's financing should improve tomorrow's options.

Much of what we write comes back to one idea: capital decisions compound. Short-duration, high-cost financing taken under pressure should give way — where the business qualifies — to specialty finance, then receivables and asset-based facilities, and ultimately conventional capital. Not every company follows that path, and no structure is universally better. But every structure should leave the next one possible.
